Emcel Filters is a UK-based designer and manufacturer of specialist air filtration solutions for demanding defence environments. With decades of filtration expertise, we support shipbuilders, system integrators and defence organisations with high-performance solutions that enhance personnel/collective protection, equipment reliability and operational readiness.
Manufactured in the UK, our products are designed to meet the challenges of modern maritime and land-based platforms, including Naval Vessels, Armoured Vehicles and commercial marine applications.
A key area of expertise is Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) protection. Our comprehensive range of CBRN filtration products includes solutions designed to meet the latest NATO requirements, delivering high levels of particulate and gaseous contaminant protection, including compliance with AEP-54 performance criteria where specified.
Emcel also provides training / peacetime options to ensure systems remain balanced during exercises without utilising valuable lifetime of CBRN filters.
Our capabilities include HVAC filtration systems for particulate removal and nuisance odour control, galley exhaust odour filtration, Air Treatment Unit (ATU) prefiltration, and high-efficiency filtration for fine particulates including the removal of bacteria and viruses.
Emcel also provides specialist breather filtration units for grey water and effluent storage tanks, helping operators maintain environmental compliance while protecting onboard systems.

PROTECT ARTS Co., Ltd., a member of Japan's Yabushita Group, manufactures AT Barrier - a Japanese-made CBRNE filtration and ventilation system for shelters and other protective refuges. A pre-filter, HEPA filter and high-performance chemical filter work together to keep occupants safe from radioactive particles and chemical and biological agents. Developed in collaboration with Nagoya University. Winner of the Grand Prize, Japan Resilience Award 2026.
